Course of Studies at KEV

We'll always help you with your course of studies – you can turn to your teacher or the Department secretary.

Bachelor Studies

In the bachelor's degree program, we participate in teaching within the joint bachelor's study program Electrical engineering and information technology. Here we provide or contribute to the following courses:

1st year
  • KEV/ZEIN (Základy elektroinženýrství)
  • KEV/TDO (Technická dokumentace a systémy CAD)
2nd year
  • KEV/ZAE (Základy automatizace v elektrotechnice)
  • KEV/AVM (Aplikace výpočetních metod)
  • KEV/PVEL (Pohony a výkonová elektronika)
  • KEV/AVSE (Automatizace ve výkonových systémech a elektroenergetice)
3rd year
  • KEV/VEL (Výkonová elektronika)
  • KEV/TES (Teorie elektrických strojů)
  • KEV/NES (Navrhování elektrických strojů)
  • KEV/ELP (Elektrické pohony)

At our department, it is possible to work on a final project as part of the bachelor's studies – the course KEV/ZPR (Závěrečný projekt).

You can find out everything about the bachelor's studies, its options, scholarships, and career opportunities on the faculty website.

Continuing Master's studies

Are you looking for a field where your education has a real impact? At the Department of Electromechanics and Power Electronics, a follow-up master's program awaits you, focused on technologies that no modern household, factory, or vehicle can do without.

As part of your studies, you can choose from four specializations – ranging from the design of power semiconductor technologies, through electromagnetic systems for energy conversion, to electromobility and drive systems for modern vehicles, or power electronics in general. We combine theory with practice so that after graduation you are ready to solve real problems in energy, industry, and transportation.

You can find all the details about the individual specializations – what you'll learn, which courses await you, and who is the program's guarantor – on the  faculty website.

Doctoral studies

After successfully completing the master's program, our department opens the door to continuing in doctoral studies and obtaining the highest attainable academic degree – Doctor (Ph.D.) in the field of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. The program is offered in full-time or combined form, with a standard duration of 4 years. Within two years of starting their studies, students take the state doctoral exam, and within four years they complete their studies by defending their dissertation.

At our department, doctoral studies mean access to a wide range of research topics, financial support, and early involvement in prestigious international projects. The program also includes a study stay abroad and participation in renowned international conferences held even on the other side of the planet – so there's plenty of room for enthusiasts of other cultures and the opportunity to discover other continents.

Our department is closely connected to the RICE research center, so from the very first days it is possible to conduct research using state-of-the-art instruments and laboratory equipment in the modern facilities of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and RICE. Doctoral students can become involved in projects on a long-term basis and be funded through them – the full-time doctoral income starts at 25,000 CZK per month and can be increased through special scholarships or project positions. Compared to the application sector, this is a comparable level of financial compensation, but with incomparably greater freedom in terms of time and topic. We also pride ourselves on a friendly atmosphere and collaborative teamwork.

Doctoral Study Program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

The aim of the doctoral study program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is to train specialized and highly qualified experts for a scientific career in both basic and applied research – for the academic and commercial sectors – and to strengthen preparedness for the current challenges facing our society.
