Here, you’ll be working on technologies that are transforming transport, energy and industry. Right from your first projects, you’ll have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, collaborate with the RICE Power Lab research teams, and discover how an idea is turned into a solution that has been proven in practice. You can get involved in the development of electric drives, power converters, electric machines, energy systems and intelligent control systems.
Bachelor’s degree programme
You’ll start with the basics of power electronics, electrical machines and drives — and from your second year onwards, you can choose a topic and get involved in a real-world project at the department. The final project isn’t just a formality; it’s work that really matters.
Postgraduate Master’s programme
You will develop your expertise and specialise — either in power electronics and drives, or in electrical machines. You will work on more complex problems, collaborate with the research team, and your term projects will often have a direct impact on ongoing projects.
Doctoral programme
A research topic, a stipend on a par with those in industry, access to RICE’s state-of-the-art facilities, and involvement in national and international projects. The atmosphere is more like that of a good start-up team than a traditional academic environment.
