Your Project. Your Future.

Join research and development projects in energy systems, mobility, robotics and artificial intelligence. At KEV, you work on technologies with real-world impact.

Choose a field that interests you

At KEV, you don't just stick to lectures – you'll get involved in real projects already during your studies, in cooperation with our researchers and industry experts.

  • Bachelor's thesis – choose a topic from the framework topics (available in Czech only)
  • Master's thesis – in the follow-up master's program
  • Independent activity – you can get involved at any time during your studies, even without a connection to your final thesis

You can also connect your project work with your coursework:

  • Bachelor's studies: KEV/VPP1–KEV/VPP5
  • Follow-up master's studies: KEV/SP1VE, KEV/SP2VE, KEV/SP1VT, KEV/SP2VT, KEV/SP1ES, KEV/SP2ES

You can join our team at any time during your studies. Choose from the listed topics, or come with your own idea and develop it with the support of people from KEV.

You can also continue successful projects in doctoral studies.

You can find the current offer of projects in the list of projects for students.

TRANSPORT TECHNOLOGY, ELECTROMOBILITY, AND MOTORSPORT

We are dealing with electric means of transport from the smallest, such as electric scooters and motorbikes, through electric cars and go-karts, to large means of transportation, such as electric buses, trolleybuses, trams and locomotives, ships, and aircraft.

We also deal with the main powertrain components for motorsport (Formula Student, SuperKart, WRC) and with traffic simulators, modeling, planning, and traffic management.

MODERN ENERGY, ENERGY TRANSFORMATION

We focus on power electronic technologies in power transmission and distribution, smart grids, and the efficient use of renewable energy. We design new technologies for power and heat generation. In the area of transformations, we also deal with specialized technologies for electric heat or wireless transmission, etc.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The operation of electrical equipment requires an understanding of the basic principles of its behavior and the derivation of a mathematical description. Historically, these simplified models and control strategies have been designed by humans based on experience and experimentation. Nowadays, so much data and fast simulators are available that it is possible to use artificial intelligence and machine learning methods to find a more accurate model and control strategy.  These methods can be used to improve the design of electrical equipment.

Student Formula

The Student Formula is an international competition organized by SAE International with a tradition dating back to 1979, with more than 600 universities currently participating. In the past, Formula SAU http://uwbracing.cz/ has achieved impressive results from many races in the internal combustion engine category. Now the students are preparing a formula with an electric drive powered by a traction battery. In our Department, you will learn more about the design of electric motors, inverters, traction batteries including BMS, and other accompanying electronics.

  • A project that you can get involved in right away.
  • Areas of possible collaboration:
    • design and manufacture of electronics,
    • unit programming, communication and visualization,
    • preparation of documentation and participation in races.
  • It is not important what skills you have now, but which you want to acquire during your studies.formula_1
